Bahrain says 575 terror-related cases probed last year

Xinhua, January 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Bahrain said on Tuesday that it investigated a total of 575 terror-related cases last year, which involved 1,521 people suspected of having links with groups in Iran and Iraq to destabilize the country.

Some suspects received funds from foreign groups like Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hizbollah Brigades in Iraq and Lebanon, Terror Crime Prosecution Attorney General Ahmed Al Hammadi told a press conference.

Most of the cases were sent to trials with some suspects receiving maximum punishments, while others were dismissed over lack of evidence, the official added.

Bahraini Attorney-General Ali Al Buainain said that a total of 422 suspects were charged with receiving military training in Iraq, Iran and Lebanon. Endit
