Mogherini, Czech FM discuss migration crisis in Prague

Xinhua, January 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

After meeting here with Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek on Monday, European foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini appreciated the Czech government on the issue of refugees and its constructive and balanced position that put emphasis on the need of unity in the European Union.

Zaoralek said that his discussions with Mogherini are particularly on managing migration crisis. He said that the key issue in the topic of migration is now the protection of European external borders.

Both Mogherini and Zaoralek supported strengthening the so-called hard power of the European Union on the international stage.

Zaoralek said Europe must be able to act resolutely and to show that it's able to physically defend itself.

Mogherini said that Europe relies mainly on diplomacy, but also uses joint military units. She said that the EU should more and more use the tools embedded in treaties in the future. Endit
