Attacker shot dead at Paris police station served jail sentences in Germany

The IS-sympathizer, who was shot dead Thursday in Paris, had not only lived temporarily in Germany, but also served three-time jails in Germany, German media reported on Sunday.
The man had committed crimes under different identities and served a one-month imprisonment in the German cities of Heinsberg, Iserlohn and Bochum, Northrhine-Westphalian regional police office director Uwe Jacobs was quoted as saying.
"We are aware of seven identities," he said, adding that the true identity of the man had however not yet been clarified.
The man had been been investigated for violations of the weapons law, drug trafficking, assault and harassment of women, said the director.
The man had entered Germany in 2013 for the first time after having lived five years in France illegally. In Germany, the man had recently lived in a shelter for asylum seekers in Recklinghausen, according to German police.
Police in northern Paris shot dead the man armed with knife trying to enter the police station in the French capital's 18th district, according to media reports. The attack occurred on the first anniversary of the attack on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Endit
