Indian PM to visit airbase attacked by militants

Xinhua, January 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Pathankot airbase in the northern state of Punjab Saturday to pay tribute to security forces who fought with militants a week ago, said officials.

Tight security has been imposed at the base some 30 km from the Pakistan border, according to officials in Chandigarh, the state capital of Punjab.

Seven Indian security personnel were killed in the fighting with the attackers. All the militants were also killed.

India accuses a Pakistan-based militant group, Jaish-e-Mohammed, of perpetrating the attack and has urged Islamabad to take action against the group. Enditem
