Indian security forces kill 5 rebels

Indian security forces killed five leftwing rebels in an encounter Friday evening in a jungle area in the eastern state of Bihar, police said on Saturday.

The fighting took place when security forces got tip that a group of Naxal rebels were in a jungle area in the district of Aurangzab.

The bodies of the killed insurgents were found abandoned in the field along with a number of weapons and ammunitions.

One security officer was injured in the fighting.

On Friday, two security officers were killed in a land mine blast allegedly triggered by the rebels in the eastern state of Orissa. Enditem
