The members of the UN Security Council on Friday strongly condemned Thursday's terrorist attack on a security training center in Zliten, Libya, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries, said a press statement of the council.

The members of the Security Council expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims of the heinous act and wished a swift recovery to those injured, it said.

A truck bomb killed at least 70 people and injured more than 100 others Thursday at a police training camp east of Libya's capital Tripoli, according to media reports.

The council also condemned the recent attacks on Libya's oil infrastructure by a group that has claimed allegiance to the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), the terrorist group, it said.

Furthermore, the council urged all parties in Libya to join efforts in combating the threat posed by transnational terrorist groups exploiting Libya for their own agenda, while calling on all Libyan parties to urgently implement the Libyan Political Agreement and work swiftly towards the formation of the Government of National Accord that "will work for the benefit of all Libyans."

The members of the Security Council also underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism to justice, said the statement.

On Thursday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also condemned the attacks, stressing "the urgency to implement the Libyan Political Agreement and form a Government of National Accord." Endit
