German international Kevin Grosskreutz joins Stuttgart from Turkish outfit Galatasaray, both sides announced on Wednesday.

Relegation threatened Stuttgart strengthen their midfield with the signing of versatile midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz, who inked a contract until June 2018 with the "Swabians".

"The Bundesliga in along with the Premier League one of the strongest leagues in the world. The anticipation to achieve the club's goals is huge. I am looking forward to this new challenge," Grosskreutz told Stuttgart's official homepage.

Grosskreutz returns to the Bundesliga without making one appearance for Galatasaray as he was suspended by the FIFA until January owing to missing documents after the transfer window. As a consequence, the former Dortmund player asked Galatasaray's club bosses for his release after only five months.

The 27-year-old midfielder knows the Bundesliga well as he played since 2009 until 2015 for Dortmund, where he lifted the Bundesliga title twice (2011, 2012) and the German Cup (2012). He clinched besides that the FIFA World Cup title 2014 with Germany in Brazil.

Grosskreutz received the jersey no. 15 and already joined his new teammates in Belek, Turkey for the winter trainings camp. The "VfB" face Cologne at the 18th round of Bundesliga on January 23. Endit
