A convoy of nine firefighters in three lorries carrying humanitarian aid for migrants in Greece left the Czech Republic on Wednesday morning, said the firefighters' corps spokeswoman Nicole Zaoralova.

Zaoralova said the convoy left from the city of Brno and would arrive at Mandra near Athens on Thursday evening.

The Czech government had set aside 4.25 million crowns (about 170,000 U.S. dollars) for the aid, which consists of 2,000 blankets, 500 camp beds, 2,000 sleeping bags, 10,000 plastic raincoats, and 40 stoves.

In addition to sending humanitarian aid for the migrant wave in Greece, the Czech Republic is also sending aid to Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia and Slovenia. Endit
