Portuguese gov't allocates 2 mln euros to finance projects for HIV/AIDS patients

Xinhua, January 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Portuguese government has decided to allocate 2.0 million euros (2.16 million U.S. dollars) in the next three years to finance non-profit institutions that work with HIV/AIDS patients, according to the Portuguese ministries of health and finance on Wednesday.

Of the total 2 million euros, the Directorate General of Health (DGS) will distribute among non-profit institutions 1.33 million euros this year, 612,000 euros in 2017, and 56,000 euros in 2018.

At the end of last year, non-profit institutions were at risk of running out of state funds as from January this year as the four-year funding program comes to an end.

The problem was eventually solved after a recent meeting with the new government team of the ministry of health. Endit
