Turkey's swine flu death toll rises to 8 in new year: health minister

Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu confirmed on Tuesday that the death toll from swine flu has reached a total of eight this year so far.

Before being infected, six were chronically ill, one was pregnant, while the other had no health problem, said the minister in parliament.

Three people, including two Syrians, also died as a result of swine flu in the Turkish southern province of Adana on Jan. 3.

Swine flu killed 30 people throughout Turkey in 2015.
