Xinhua, January 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Turkish security forces seized 13 tons of marijuana later Tuesday on board of a Bolivian-flagged ship in international waters off the coast of Libya, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Wednesday.

The anti-narcotic police informed the Turkish Coast Guard after receiving information about the Bolivian-flagged ship, according to the report.

The Turkish Coast Guard launched an air-supported operation in cooperation with the Bolivian government on Tuesday on northeast of Tobruk port of Libya.

The vessel will be brought to the Turkish territorial waters for legal procedures, the report quoted Turkish officials as saying.

The officials say that this was their first narcotic operation in international waters. Enditem
