More than 2 kg cannabis, other drugs seized in Singapore

More than 2 kg cannabis and other drugs estimated to be worth more than 62,122 U.S. dollars were seized by Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in a series of operations recently, said CNB in a press release on Wednesday.

CNB said a 41-year-old male Singaporean was arrested by police officers for suspected drug consumption and possession on Monday. Four Erimin-5 tablets were recovered from the man and he was referred to CNB.

The authority raided the residence of the 41-year-old male at Kim Tian Road on Tuesday following swift investigations, and a total of about 997 grams of cannabis was found at his residence.

A follow-up operation was also launched on Tuesday evening to seize the drug associate of the 41-year-old man. CNB officers recovered a total of about 1,015 grams of cannabis, 125 grams of 'Ice', 16 Erimin-5 tablets and various improvised drug-smoking apparatus at Segar Road and arrested a 42-year-old male Singaporean.

The total haul of drugs in the opeartion is about 2,012 grams of cannabis, 125 grams of 'Ice', and 16 Erimin-5 tablets, as well as various improvised drug-smoking apparatus, estimated to be worth more than 89,000 Singapore dollars (62,122 U.S. dollars).

Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing. Those convicted of trafficking in more than 500 grams of cannabis may face the death penalty, said CNB. Enditem
