High school stays open amid online shooting threats

Xinhua, January 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

A high school in Blackpool, northwest England, kept its doors open Monday morning after receiving threatening online messages of killing pupils in a shooting.

Police officers guarded every entrance of Montgomery High School after the threats were posted on Facebook last week. Police are still investigating the anonymous threat-maker, who said he planned to kill as many people as possible in revenge for alleged bullying, according to local media reports.

Although local police said they were confident the threat was a hoax, more than 1,000 pupils didn't attend school on Monday morning. School staff have all come to the school, school principal Tony Nicholson confirmed.

There was "nothing to suggest these messages pose a credible threat," said Lancashire Police in a statement. Endite
