Chinese president appoints new ambassador to Jordan

Chinese President Xi Jinping appointed a new ambassador to Jordan on Monday upon approval by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.

Pan Weifang was named the new ambassador, replacing Gao Yusheng, according to a statement from the national legislature.

Pan is a veteran diplomat in West Asian and North African affairs. He served as ambassador to Oman from 2006 to 2010 and Slovakia from 2013 to 2015. Endi
