Maduro celebrates completion of milestone to build 1 million homes

Xinhua, December 31, 2015 Adjust font size:

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro celebrated on Wednesday the delivery of the final home in the current phase of the Venezuelan Grand Housing Mission (GMVV), which aimed to build 1 million homes for Venezuelan people.

This milestone was reached as the latest batch of apartments were delivered in the central state of Aragua on Wednesday.

The GMVV is one of Maduro's defining policies and is a pillar of the current government's agenda, as it wrestles with the country's housing problems.

In 2015 alone, Caracas dedicated around 4.5 billion U.S. dollars to accelerate the construction of over 326,000 homes to reach the 1 million landmark.

Some materials, including hundreds of cranes, and technology used to build homes were from China as part of the agreements signed between Caracas and Beijing. Endi
