U.S. mother fatally shoots daughter mistaken as intruder: report

Xinhua, December 31, 2015 Adjust font size:

In a rare tragedy, a U.S. mother in the U.S. state of Florida has shot and killed her daughter, who was mistaken for an intruder, local media reported Wednesday.

The mother, from St. Cloud in central Florida, fired a single shot to kill her daughter after hearing someone entering her home late Tuesday, local police were quoted by the reports as saying.

Actually, the 27-year-old daughter was visiting her mother for the new year holiday from the state of North Carolina. She died in a hospital later as result of the gun wound.

The mother, a 9-11 dispatcher, was also sent to hospital for treatment due to shock and grief.

Police said this appeared to be an accidental shooting as the mother's account of the incident matched the evidence. Endit
