Mexico satisfied with efforts to enhance ties with Asia-Pacific in 2015

Xinhua, December 31, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Mexican government was satisfied with its efforts in advancing ties with the Asia-Pacific countries in 2015, said its foreign ministry on Wednesday.

The Asia-Pacific region is "the most dynamic region in the world. It contains over half of the global population and six of the 20 largest economies," said a press release by the ministry.

"With China, our second-largest trade partner, we maintained dynamic political exchanges and we worked to deepen our comprehensive strategic partnership," it said.

According to the ministry, an example of the exchange was a visit to Mexico by China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) in September, which helped to "advance the entry of Mexican agricultural and foodstuff products to the Chinese market."

Furthermore, in October, the Mexican city of Guadalajara hosted the 9th China-LAC Business Summit 2015 and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) opened its first office in Mexico.

In November, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping met for the fifth time in the last three years during the G20 summit in Antalya, Turkey.

In the mean time, Mexico also made efforts to advance links with India,Japan and other countries in the Asian-Pacific region. Endi
