Philippine death toll from Melor rises to 42

Xinhua, December 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Philippine death toll from typhoon Melor further climbed to 42, while four others remained missing, the state disaster management agency said on Tuesday.

Over 63,000 families or almost 287,000 individuals have remained inside and outside the evacuation centers, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

President Benigno S. Aquino III is scheduled to visit typhoon-devastated provinces on Wednesday.

He will first proceed to Northern Samar in central Philippines before going to Oriental Mindoro in northern part of the country to get briefings on the extent of damage in those places and to distribute relief goods to affected residents. Endit
