Four militants killed in eastern Afghan clash

Xinhua, December 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least four militants were killed in a clash with security forces in Afghanistan's eastern province of Wardak, police said on Saturday.

"On Friday afternoon, an unknown number of militants attacked a unit of security force in Deh Hayyat area of Nirkh district. The security force returned fire in self defense, killing four armed militants at the scene," a provincial police source told Xinhua.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since April when the militant group launched its annual rebel offensive in different places of the militancy-plagued country, claiming hundreds of lives including militants, security personnel and civilians.

The Taliban has yet to make comments. Enditem
