Acropolis Museum, Shanghai Museum sign cooperation agreement

Xinhua, December 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Acropolis Museum signed a cooperation agreement with the Shanghai Museum on Friday in Athens, the Athens institution announced.

"The main target of the new pact is to support the closer collaboration between the two sides in issues concerning music education and new technology applications in museums, as well as modern methods of conservation," according to the press release.

"Shanghai is developing at a rapid pace both in the economy sector as well as in culture. Its emblematic museum has a collection of more than 120,000 works and artifacts of its ancient civilization," the Greek museum noted.

The new Acropolis museum, which this year celebrated its sixth anniversary, has attracted more than 8 million visitors since its opening in the summer of 2009.

"This cooperation will lead to the substantial cooperation of the two significant museums to the mutual benefit of both sides," the statement stressed. Endit
