Dutch team into women's handball Worlds final

Xinhua, December 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Netherlands on Friday beat Poland 30-25 to secure a spot in the final of the 2015 Women's Handball World Championship in Herning, Denmark.

It is the first time ever the Dutch team has made it to the final at an international championship.

The Dutch started out the match in style and quickly set up a 5-2 lead. With sparkling attacking play at a pace where the Poles could not possibly keep up, the Dutch team established a seven goal lead at 15-8 in the first half.

The Poles fought back in the second half and with three minutes left in the game the gap was shrunk to three goals at 27-24. When Estavana Polman and Yvette Bloch scored two goals in a row with the Dutch leading 29-24 the match was more or less settled.

The Netherlands will meet the winners between Norway and Romania in the final match on Sunday at the Jyske Bank Boxen Arena. Endit
