Bayern Munich extend contracts of Mueller, Boateng, Martinez and Alonso

The German record champions Bayern Munich extended the contracts of Thomas Mueller, Jerome Boateng, Javi Martinez and Xabi Alonso, the Bundesliga leaders confirmed in an official statement on Friday.

Mueller, Jerome and Martinez had new deals until 2021 while veteran Alonso inked an extension until 2017.

Germany international Mueller his breakthrough as a homegrown Bayern talent under former coach Louis van Gaal in 2009. Mueller quickly became a key player and scored 84 goals in 213 games for the "Bavarians" ever since. He sits currently on the third place of the Bundesliga top scorer standings with 13 goals in 16 games.

"I'm proud and happy that I have extended my contract," Muller said.

Defensive key player Boateng joined Bayern in July 2011 to establish himself as a constant in the defence. The former Manchester City defender made 120 appearances and scored three goals overall. He was part of Germany's 2014 World Cup winning squad to lift the trophy with teammates Thomas Mueller and Phillip Lahm among others.

"I'm satisfied and delighted that I was able to extend here. I look forward to the next years to have great success with Bayern," Boateng told the club's official homepage.

Martinez completes the trio that signed a long-term contract extension until June 2021. The Spain international moved to the Bundesliga giants from Athletic Bilbao in the summer 2012. The Spaniard played since his arrival 56 games and marked four goals.

Martinez' compatriot Alonso committed his future until June 2017. The 34-year-old veteran midfielder joined Bayern after five years at Real Madrid in August 2014. Since then, Alonso made 40 appearances and scored twice.

However, despite the commitment of the quartet, Bayern wait for the much-anticipated decision by Josep Guardiola regarding his expiring contract. Guardiola said on Friday that he is going to hold "final talks with the club bosses after the last game in 2015 on Saturday".

The front-runners clash with Hannover at the 17th round before the Bundesliga head into the winter break until January 22. Endit
