Xinhua, December 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Ukrainian state-run aircraft manufacturer Antonov said on Friday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi company Taqnia Aeronautics to supply 30 transport aircraft An-178 to the Royal Air Force of Saudi Arabia.

"The signing of this memorandum confirms that the An-178 is a modern, safe and functional airplane, which draws interest of potential buyers," Oleksandr Kotsiuba, a deputy chairman of Antonov was quoted as saying by the company's press service.

He gave no details on the timing of the aircraft delivery or the value of the deal.

The An-178 is a medium-sized transport aircraft capable of performing takeoffs and landings on unpaved runways. It has a payload capacity of up to 18 tons with a maximum speed of 800 kilometers per hour.

According to estimates, the market price of the plane varies between 25 million U.S. dollars and 40 million dollars per unit. Endit
