Indian PM to visit Russia next week

Xinhua, December 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a state visit to Russia next week, sources said Friday.

"Modi will be in Russia from Dec. 23 to 25. During his three-day visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and other top Russian leaders," the sources said.

The two countries will also negotiate a defense deal for the acquisition of Russian S-400 missile systems during Modi's visit, the sources said.

India's Defense Acquisition Council had Thursday approved the deal to buy five units of Russian S-400 missile systems, in a meeting chaired by Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar. Endit
