Xinhua, December 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Myanmar received 146.11 million U.S. dollars of contracted foreign investment in November this year, sources with the Myanmar Investment Commission said Thursday.

The investment, which was mainly projected into the sectors of manufacturing, power and real estate, among others, brought the total amount of foreign investment to 3.94 billion dollars in the first eight months (April to November) of fiscal 2015-16.

No foreign investment has been put in agriculture, livestock and fishery during the eight-month period, the sources said.

The investment commission is implementing a long-term project of boosting foreign investment, aiming to receive 6 billion dollars in the 2015-16 fiscal year.

Official statistics show that Myanmar attracted a total of 58.03 billion dollars in contracted foreign investment as of October 2015 since late 1988 when the country opened to foreign investors.

China remains the top foreign investor with 15.34 billion dollars, followed by Singapore with 10.9 billion dollars and Thailand with 10.3 billion dollars. Enditem
