(Recast)French President to visit India in January: Elysee

Xinhua, December 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

French President Francois Hollande will kick off next year's overseas trips with a visit to India scheduled for January 26, his office announced on Wednesday.

At the invitation of Indian authorities, Hollande will be the chief guest for India's Republic Day celebrations in January, 2016, the Elysee Palace said.

"This invitation reflects the quality and dynamism of the strategic partnership between India and France, which will be further strengthened on this occasion," according to a statement released by the Elysee Palace.

Hollande's visit to India, the second since he took power in 2012, will be a key opportunity to further enhance efforts to fight global change by respecting Paris agreement on climate change for which "India played a key role to obtain an ambitious accord". Enditem
