Protest at Sri Lanka's airport cause international flights to be delayed

Xinhua, December 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

A strike staged by customs officials at the country's main international airport resulted in several international flights being delayed from Colombo on Wednesday, local media reports said here.

Sri Lanka's national airline carrier, Sri Lankan Airlines, said that its flights to London, Beijing, Singapore and Lahore were delayed due to the strike which had been staged due to bags belonging to customs officials being checked upon their arrival at the Bandaranaiake International Airport.

The strike however was called off by Wednesday afternoon and Sri Lankan said flights will operate as scheduled. Endit
