Singapore stocks close 0.9 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 25.40 points or 0.90 percent to close at 2,840.92.

A total of 945.2 million shares changed hands with turnover of 980.7 million Singapore dollars (695.5 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 235 to 160, while 531 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 0.48 points, or 0.02 percent, to close at 2,815.52 on Tuesday. Enditem
