Amazon to build logistics center in Spain's Barcelona

Xinhua, December 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Online retailer Amazon will build a logistics center in El Prat de Llobregat, close to the Mediterranean city of Barcelona, Economics newspaper Expansion reported on Tuesday.

The center, which aims at providing service to clients in southern Europe, will be located on a 150,808 square meters land that has a surface area of 210,000 square meters to build on.

The land, located at the Mas Blau II industrial estate, cost 30 million euros(32.99 million U.S. dollars), according to Incasol, the body of the Catalan government in charge of land management for economic activities.

"It is possible to construct a ground floor building and add three floors more to establish a logistics center," Incasol said, adding that Incasol will invest 1.2 million euros to build a buried electrical transformer in the area.

Amazon has another plant in Spain, in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid), where it is also building a new center of 45,000 square meters. The center is expected to create 1,000 new jobs in three years. Enditem
