Galca in positive mood after taking over at Espanyol

Spanish BBVA Primera Liga outfit Espanyol wasted little time on Monday after sacking Sergio Gonzalez as first team coach and later in the day named former player, Constantin Galca, as his replacement.
The club, which is now owned by the Chinese Raster Group, opted to sack Sergio after a run which has seen Espanyol win just one of their last eight matches.
Galca led Steaua Bucharest to a league double in his native Romania last season, but has now returned to the Barcelona based outfit where he spent four seasons as a player.
"I want to thank the club for giving me the chance to return home. I am another Espanyol fan," said the new coach at his presentation during which he said he would "give everything" for the club.
"I think we have good players and a good squad," he said, adding he wanted to see Espanyol "treat the ball well, keep possession and wear down our rivals."
Galca replaces Gonzalez, who was sacked with the team in the 12th place in the BBV Primera Liga table, and he said he had spoken briefly to his predecessor at the club, who had also been his room-mate as a player.
The 43-year-old spoke about the squad, saying "they are hoping to improve some things, although some are more worried than others."
Espanyol face Levante in the return leg of the King's Cup on Tuesday night and Galca's league debut as coach will be on Saturday evening when they entertain Las Palmas. Endi
