Albania marks 60 years of UN membership

Xinhua, December 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albanian Foreign Ministry together with the United Nations (UN) agencies in Albania hosted a ceremony Monday to mark the 60th anniversary of the country's UN membership.

Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati said at the event that Albania would continue to back peace and security. "It is in our DNA as a nation to be in harmony and peace with others," Bushati said.

Bushati emphasized Albania's contribution of troops and police officers to UN-led missions across the world.

UN Coordinator in Albania Brian Williams acknowledged Albania's contribution to his organization. "Though a tiny country, Albania has proven to be a strong voice and an active player in promoting peace and security in the world," he said.

The ceremony featured an exhibition of archive records on the country's UN membership and screening of a short documentary on Albania's role in the UN. Endi
