First Vietnamese advances into ATP rankings' Top 1,000

Top Vietnamese tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has jumped up 126 spots to No. 933 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP)' s world rankings, becoming the first Vietnamese athlete advancing into the rankings' Top 1,000.

   The 18-year-old player from southern Tay Ninh province, has gained 16 points from attending eight recent tournaments, the ATP announced on Dec. 14.

   Nam became the first Vietnamese to claim a Grand Slam junior title after winning the boys' doubles trophy at the Wimbledon championships, with an Indian partner on July 12.  Endi
