International Civil Aviation Day marked in Brunei

Brunei should face the challenge of joining the world ranking airport and place Brunei International Airport among the top 100 airports in the world, Minister of Communications Awang Haji Mustappa said on Monday.
Speaking at the 2015 International Civil Aviation Day celebration, the minister of communications stressed that the challenge requires the country to have an aeronautic and non-aeronautic core strategy, conduct research as well as have innovative and proactive ideas.
The minister said that airport management all over the world are involved in Business Intelligence to improve the effectiveness of marketing strategies and expanding revenue from non-aeronautics sources.
The minister proposed that the Department of Civil Aviation widens its marketing strategy and make the airport customer friendly and Bruneian.
The minister also spoke on an efficient and convenient transportation and communications system. He added the system was important in order to improve economic growth and strengthen competitiveness, economic stability and widening business and investment opportunities.
The minister also highlighted that transportation and communications can improve tourism through consolidated measures of relevant agencies. This also opens employment opportunities to locals and opportunities to diversify technology towards increasing passenger comfort and safety.
An exhibition in line with the theme of this year's celebration, "Working Together To Ensure No Country Is Left Behind" was also held.
Brunei 's government has provisioned nearly 165 million dollars for the modernization of the Brunei International Airport and another 27.7 million dollars for air-traffic control. Enditem
