Xinhua, December 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two adults and six children were injured Sunday after a hand grenade was thrown into a group of people at a supermarket parking lot outside the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, authorities said Monday.

The incident occurred at about 6:35 p.m. local time (GMT 1635) in Bucha town, 28 km west of the capital, when an unknown man lobbed the grenade towards a crowd standing in the parking lot before driving away from the scene, according to the Interior Ministry's department in Kiev region.

Five of the injured were treated for wounds at the site, while three others were taken to a local hospital with injuries in varying degrees, the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The 36-year-old attacker was later detained and a cache of weapons was found in the house he was living in, the statement said.

A criminal investigation has been launched by local police while possible motives for the attack have not been disclosed. Endi
