Chinese VP meets young Japanese politicians

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met a delegation of young members of Japan's Diet on Monday, calling on them to help strengthen China-Japan ties.

"We hope young Japanese politicians can proceed from a strategic and long-term perspective to contribute to improving China-Japan relations," Li told them.

He said that long-term healthy and stable development of bilateral ties serves the fundamental interests of people of the two countries, calling for furthering bilateral relations based on the four political documents and four-point consensus reached between the two sides.

The head of the group, House of Representatives member Taira Masaaki,said young politicians have a responsibility to nurture friendship between Japan and China. Endi
