Xinhua, December 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Kim Jong Un, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has emphasized the importance of launching an ideological campaign to make the country's artillerymen "the strongest in mental power".

Kim made the emphasis at a military conference held here Thursday and Friday, the state-run KCNA news agency reported Saturday.

Addressing the 4th conference for artillerymen, Kim said that the most important in rounding off combat readiness for artillery personnel is to conduct an ideological campaign and train servicemen not to abandon their revolutionary faith even when facing sacrifice.

"In order to increase the power of artillery pieces, it is necessary to step up the work of modernizing artillery hardware as required by modern warfare," he added.

He called on all attendants at the meeting to become vanguards in preparation for the 7th Congress of the ruling Worker's Party of Korea scheduled for early May next year.
