Singapore seizes about 1.4 kg of heroin, 1 kg of cannabis

Xinhua, December 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Singapore's Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) found about 1.4 kg of heroin and 1 kg of cannabis at Woodlands Checkpoint, said ICA in a press release on Saturday.

A Malaysia-registered lorry was stopped by officers from ICA for routine checks upon arrival at Woodlands Checkpoint on Friday, and drugs were found within the trailer cabin of the lorry which conveys a consignment of 23 pieces of pre-stressed planks.

The haul of drugs is estimated to be worth approximately 130,400 Singapore dollars (93,301 U.S. dollars), said ICA.

The authorities added that the 27-year-old male Malaysian driver and the seized drugs were referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for further investigations. Enditem
