Xinhua, December 5, 2015 Adjust font size:

Casualties were feared as a massive fire engulfed a market in a main business hub in central Kabul Saturday morning, police said.

"The fire started at around 10:00 a.m. local time in a plastic shoes market inside Mandawi, the main business center in the city, causing serious damage to the shops. The police have been inspecting and possible casualties will be released later on the day," a police official told Xinhua near the site.

A thick black smoke was seen rising above the scene while several fire engines and ambulances were rushing to the site.

Several roads were blocked by police for precautionary measures. Endit
