1st Ld Writethru: Rocket attack kills 8 Afghan civilians, wounds 2

Xinhua, December 4, 2015 Adjust font size:

Eight civilians were killed and two others sustained injuries as a rocket apparently fired by militants hit a residential area in Sayedabad district of the eastern Wardak province on Friday, provincial governor, Hayatullah Hayat said.

"During clash between security forces and the armed militants which erupted in Dando Khil village of Sayedabad district today morning, a rocket fired by insurgents slammed into a residential area, leaving eight innocent civilians dead and injured two others," Hayat told Xinhua.

Meantime, Taliban militants rejected their involvement in firing rockets and killing civilians.

However, governor Hayat said that a fact-finding mission had been sent into the rocket-hit area to investigate the case. Enditem
