Singapore stocks close 0.17 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 4.84 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 2,879.05.

A total of 1.19 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 771 million Singapore dollars (551 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 192 to 158, while 583 others finished unchanged.

The STI index up 0.25 points, or 0.01 percent, to close at 2,883.89 on Thursday. Enditem
