Real Madrid might be disqualified from the Copa del Rey

Xinhua, December 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Real Madrid might be disqualified from the Copa del Rey after fielding an ineligible player in the 3-1 victory over Cadiz on Wednesday.

Denis Cheryshev scored the opening goal and paved the way for Madrid's victory, however, he shouldn't have been on the pitch.

Denis, loaned to Villarreal last season, picked up three yellow cards. And although he returned to Madrid this season, the ban should have been active on Wednesday.

At halftime, Madrid was aware of the ineligible situation of Denis and then substituted him.

Madrid director Emilio Butragueno said a competition judge would have the final decision on the club's fate. Endi
