Hong Kong hosts 1st int'l entrepreneurs festival, innovation spirit highlighted

Young people as well as enterprises were advised to embrace innovation as the first Hong Kong International Entrepreneurs Festival (HKIEF) was held here on Thursday.
Co-organized by the China Internet Development Foundation and the Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council, the festival attracted entrepreneurs and delegates from up to 1,000 organizations and a wide range of technological innovative projects were demonstrated to participants.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said that it had become a global trend to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship. He advised Hong Kong's enterprises as well as young people to embrace innovation.
Starting from Thursday, the HKIEF will last for three days. It covers large scale conferences, seminars, interviews and project exhibitions. More than 200,000 visitors are expected to view the various activities arranged at venues such as Hong Kong's Asia World Expo, Sky 100 and Kowloon Park.
Eric Yeung, executive chairman of HKIEF, said he wished to encourage youngsters and startups to realize their business plans through this festival. He suggested that development opportunities could be seized in areas such as the "Internet+" industry.
The HKIEF, an event designed to provide a unique platform for global entrepreneurs and investors to explore promotion and business opportunities, is anticipated to be held annually from this year on. Endit
