Spanish unemployment falls by 8.04 pct on annual basis

The number of people registered as unemployed in Spain fell by 27,071 from October to November, according to data unveiled Wednesday by the Spanish Ministry of Employment and Social Security.

The figure meant a 0.65 percent fall on a month-on-month basis that left the total number of unemployed people at 4.14 million.

On a year-on-year basis unemployment fell by 8.04 percent, with 362,818 fewer unemployed people from November 2014 to November 2015.

Unemployment fell in all sectors, decreasing by 10,218 people in the construction sector, by 7,153 people in the agriculture sector, by 5,311 people in the industry sector and 1,455 in the services sector.

The number of unemployed men fell by 23,006 and the number of unemployed women fell by 4,065.

Spanish Minister of Employment and Social Security Fatima Banez said she was "happy" with the figures revealed Wednesday and predicted a good Christmas with more than 850,000 new job opportunities.

Banez told local radio that between 2014 and 2015, more than 1 million jobs would be recovered out of the 3.5 million destroyed during the economic crisis. Endit
