Kenyan court sentences British terror suspect 9 years in prison

Xinhua, December 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Kenyan court on Wednesday sentenced British man Jermaine Grant to nine years in prison on terror charges.

Mombasa High Court convicted him of nine charges related to trying to illegally acquire Kenyan citizenship through forged documents.

Grant faces charges of plotting a terror attack in Mombasa. He was arrested in December 2011, found with explosives.

Grant's lawyer Chacha Mwita said they would appeal the ruling, which he termed as unfair and harsh to his client.

Intelligence reports say Grant is a close confidant Samantha Lewthwaite, known as the White Widow, a British woman on the Western world's list of most-wanted terror suspects. Enditem
