Namibian shooting ace, Gaby Ahrens, booked herself a ticket to the 2016 Summer Olympic Games to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The 34-year-old Namibian shrugged of stiff competition that was delivered to her by Mariem Rammah of Morocco as she managed to clinch the African Championships in the Olympic trap discipline on Monday afternoon in Egypt.
"I prepared for this event all year. I worked hard and achieved my goal. This makes me happy. Now my focus shifts to the Olympic games in 2016," Ahrens said.
Despite a shaky start in the final, Ahrens picked herself up and accumulated 60 hits to move into the semifinal on fourth place.
She then scored a fantastic 12/15, the best semifinal score of the day, to book her place in the final, where she delivered a performance that ensured her a spot to represent Namibia at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
In May 2015, the country's best female shooter won gold at the South African Championships. Endit
