China urges EU objectivity on human rights

Xinhua, December 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

A Chinese official on Monday urged the EU to view China's record on human rights objectively, after co-chairing a meeting on the issue between the two sides.

Li Junhua, director-general of the Foreign Ministry's Department of International Organizations and Conferences, made the remarks at a press conference following the 34th Human Rights Dialogue between China and the EU.

The other chair was Ugo Astuto, director for Asia and the Pacific of the European External Action Service.

The two sides exchanged views on new developments and cooperation in the fields of human rights, environmental protection and social integration. The talks were candid and comprehensive, said Li.

The Chinese participants expressed concern on the migrant crisis, religious discrimination and other issues in Europe.

The meeting involved representatives from the Supreme People's Court, China's top legislature, and government departments handling areas including security, judicial and religious matters, women and children. Endi
