Rosberg takes pole position at Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix

German race pilot Nico Rosberg finished here on Saturday the qualifaction in the fastest time and took the pole position of the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2015, the sixth consecutive this season and the seventh in 2015.

   Rosberg who drives for the Mercedes team crossed the finishing line with a 1:40.2.

   With his sixth consecutive pole position, Rosberg is just two legs behind Ayrton Senna's all-time record. The German is also aiming for his third consecutive victory in the Emirati capital on the Yas Marina Circuit under a partly clouded sky.

   Rosberg told the Abu Dhabi daily The National that he does not consider his win a revival, but progress. His Mercedes-GP teammate, the British F1 pilot Lewis Hamilton, will take position two. Finnish driver Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) came third. His teammate Sebastian Vettel from Germany fell back and will start on position 16.

   Mercedes set a record with 15 front-row wins in 2015. Hamilton clinched the win of the 66th season of the F1 World Championship in the 16th race of the season in the United States Grand Prix on October 25.
