German consumer climate predicted to fall for 4th consecutive month in Dec.

German consumer climate will decline for the fourth consecutive month with the overall indicator at 9.3 points for December, following a value of 9.4 points in November, market research group GfK reported Friday.
According to GfK, both economic and income expectations have suffered slight losses, while the willingness to buy rose modestly in November.
"German consumer confidence is continuing to wane, while economic expectations are maintaining their downward trend," said Rolf Buerkl, an analyst for the Nuremberg-based research group.
However, the consumer climate indicator is still at a very high level, Buerkl added.
GfK's report noted that the persistently high influx of asylum seekers has resulted in a further fall of economic optimism and also had a detrimental effect on the income expectations indicator, which has also experienced losses.
In addition, the report said that future consumer sentiment will depend on factors such as the response of consumers to the terrorist attacks in Paris.
The GfK consumer climate survey has been conducted since 1980. Its findings are based on around 2,000 consumer interviews conducted each month on behalf of the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union. Endit
