1st LD: Turkish military shuts down aircraft near Syrian border

A warplane which violated Turkish airspace was shut down on the Syrian side of the Turkish border on Tuesday, Turkely's private NTV news channel quoted Turkish military sources as saying.

The plane reportedly crashed in Turkmen mountains in Kizidag region in southern Turkey, private Dogan News Agency reported on Tuesday.

It was not clear to which country the plane belonged, said the sources.

Syria's pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV cited a Turkey military source as saying that the warplane was shut down by Turkish a F-16 fighter jet. Endit
