Namibian President Hage Geingob officially handed over a donation of a new residential house built by a Chinese company, to its recipients, the Stella Hansen family, in fulfilment of a pledge he made on Monday.
The house situated in Wanaheda, Windhoek cost 580,000 Namibian dollars, was built by the Sun Investment Group, through the China-Namibia Loving Heart Organization over a period of 42 days.
The donation came as a result of Geingob honouring his promise to deliver the residential house to the Hansen family, who were evicted in 2007 from their home by the City of Windhoek and resorted to a temporary shelter at a local cemetery until 2014, when then Prime Minister Geingob gave them an alternative shelter.
Addressing the gathering Monday, Geingob that "We should fight poverty together and join hands with the private sector. We must stop being greedy and we must start to share with the less privileged," he said.
Chairman of Sun Investment Group Namibia, Jack Huang thanked the president for allowing Sun Group to make their contribution and Huang hopes the Namibian government will give them the opportunity to improve the lives of thousands through the Mass housing Project and avail decent and affordable houses.
"We are ready to participate in the development of the nation, following instruction from the government to endeavour and contribute to the full-development of Namibia in various sectors with Namibians and companies towards the eradication of poverty," he said.
Meanwhile, the Sun Investment Group has been investing in Namibia in many sectors for more than 17 years. Endit
